Tryouts for the Rookie legion team will be held October 1st-2nd at Hillcrest High School. All 6th-8th grade boys, living inside of the Hillcrest school district, are eligible to tryout. The tryouts will begin at 2:00pm on Saturday with a mandatory parent meeting. They will continue Sunday at 2:00pm, as well. There will be flyers handed out at both Reed and Pleasant View with details pertaining to the weekend. The varsity Merchants finished a great season with 3rd place in the American Legion state tournament. After beating Nixa to win the Zone Tournament on a walk off hit by Chase Briscoe, Hillcrest traveled to Sedalia to play in the state tournament. The Merchants beat Fike Post 499 in the opening round but fell to eventual champion Festus before losing agian to Washington Post 218.

Hillcrest Merchants Junior Varstiy won the 2011 District 17 Championship. Hillcrest beat Nixa in the championship game after strong proformances by co-MVP's Tyler Ray and Shane Smith. Congratulations on a great season!
